Having a great time on a solo road trip, or with your lover or bestie, doesn't have to cost a fortune. Follow these five guidelines to have a blast and save some cash.
Five Key Pointers:
- Leave around noon and eat lunch before you so. Plan Friday night's event, an relax on Saturday then do something spontaneous Saturday night.
- Pack your meals and find accommodations with a microwave and mini-fridge in the room. If you eat out at all , only have one meal at a restaurant.
- Stay within 200 miles or four hours of driving from home. Make a flexible schedule for free or inexpensive activities.
- Only bring one outfit, but also a roll of quarters and a cleaned out soda bottle with your laundry detergent and/or softeners. You can wash the clothes you wore out on Friday at a laundromat or even the hotel for seven bucks or less and wear them home Sunday.
- Only do any shopping on Sunday, along the drive home. Plan to be back home in the afternoon and eat dinner at home.
