Most Nederland drivers have probably encountered wet, slippery roads. If you have, you know that slick surfaces can cause driving challenges. One of the biggest dangers of driving in rainy weather is hydroplaning. This is when your vehicle skids or slides due to a thin film of water on the road's surface.

Hydroplaning causes your tires to temporarily leave the road. As a result, you may find you have little control over your steering and braking capabilities. The best approach to hydroplaning is prevention. Make sure your tires are well-maintained. Drive below the speed limit.

It's also important to avoid driving through puddles or any standing water. Using your cruise control on wet roads can also increase hydroplaning risk. Driving in the tracks of the vehicle ahead of you is a good strategy, as is avoiding the outside lane where water accumulates.
