The negative will be a red plastic covering and the positive will be a black plastic covering the connection. With an adjustable wrench, loosen the nut and bolt and remove the connections.

Give the Terminals a Cleaning

Use a wire brush and give the terminals a good cleaning to remove any corrosion that has accumulated. Make sure to have a mask and safety glasses on so that you prevent inhaling any corrosive particles.

Hook Your Battery to the Charger

Now that your battery terminals are clean, you can connect the charger, turn it on to charge and wait for charging to complete. Ensure that the charger is connected in accordance with the instructions.

When Charging Is Complete

When charging is complete, turn the charger off and remove the charging cables. You can now reconnect your battery cables and ensure that red goes to red and black goes to black and retighten the bolts. Your car is now ready to be started and ready to drive again.
